The table below shows the maximum distances from the network switch depending on power source, by adding an Axis PoE Extender for every 100m (328ft). The actual figures will depend on operating conditions. The range is over 24AWG (or heavier) CAT5e or CAT6 cable except where specified:
Powered device | PoE source |
---|
PoE switch or Axis 15 W midspan (802.3af) | PoE+ switch (802.3at) | Axis 30W midspan (802.3at)** | Axis 60W midspan (High PoE) |
---|
Low power PoE devices Devices that are PoE Class 1, or require under 6 watts | 300m (984 ft.) | 400m (1312 ft.)
| 400m (1312 ft.) | 400m (1312 ft.)
|
Medium power PoE devices Devices that are PoE Class 1 or 2, or require under 12 watts | 200m (656 ft.)
| 200m (656 ft.)
| 300m (984 ft.) | 300m (984 ft.)
|
Full power PoE or PoE+ devices Devices that are PoE 802.3af or 802.at compliant, or require over 12 watts | Not supported | Not supported | 200m (656 ft.)* | 200 m (656 ft.)*
|
Custom High PoE devices Devices specified for use with Axis 60W Injectors | Not supported | Not supported | Not supported | 200m (656 ft.)* |
Note: The actual figures depend on operating conditions. Range is over 24 AWG or heavier CAT5e or CAT6 cable except where specified.
* use 23 AWG or heavier cable (typically CAT6)
** Axis 30W midspans are fully 802.3at compliant but operate at a higher voltage than most PoE+ switches, therefore it enables longer ranges then most normal PoE+ Switches.
